Splat (Retro Remakes 2004 Compo Game)

Description

This is my entry for the Retro Remakes 2004 Compo which ran from 1st July to 30th September 2004 which gives us a chance of winning a prize. I have written a remake of a 1983 ZX Spectrum game by Incentive Software, called 'Splat'. You have to guide 'Zippy' through many levels of hazards and escape through the top of the maze. Sounds easy, but the maze is constantly moving around and getting faster with each new level. You have to avoid the maze edges, spikes, water and a variety of other things while eating grass and plums. Get a good score and you get on the global Top 50 chart.

Prize Update!

I won something! I won some games and utilities for most faithful remake and also an Atari joystick with bulit in games as a special judges prize from STompy. Overall I came 17th out of 73 which is not bad at all for my first proper game.

Game Features

  • 9 levels of maze mayhem (wraps around to level 1 but faster)

(current chart can also be viewed here)

  • Written using DarkBASIC Professional V5.5 by "The Game Creators"
